I've been getting a lot of questions from people on who my choices for Ward 12 Councillor and Public School Trustee are in this 2025 City of Calgary Election. Here are my choices:

Ward 12 Councillor - Mike Jamieson

ree

Since the last election in 2021, I have been asked hundreds of times if I would run again. For a time I considered it, even though I have been battling some health issues. Then I met Mike Jamieson who expressed an interest in possibly running in Ward 12. He immediately struck me as a smart, common sense individual. I've met with Mike many times since and I can easily say he has my complete confidence that he is the person for the job. Just like his website URL, I indeed like Mike. Months ago I decided to throw my support behind him. I had saved the larger versions of my campaign signs from 2012 (just in case). I told Mike I'd donate the frames and he could use them for his signs. Well, he did one better. Because we share the same first name, he took the signs and had some very nice stickers made up with "Jamieson" to cover "LaValley" on the signs. Not only did he make great use of the frames, but the actual coroplast signs as well, greatly reducing costs while recycling materials as well. This was the kind of thinking we need more of at city hall. So, if you thought some of the large campaign signs in the neighborhood looked familiar, you weren't wrong.

Ward 12/14 Public School Trustee - Dar Zuch

I've known Dar for a few years now. He has always impressed me with his straight forward common sense attitude. We've had several discussions about the school board and I really like his focus on the core skills in education. Being a business man, he realizes that the School Board has a role to play in the costs of education as well. Oddly, the school board has been very silent during the labor dispute with the teachers. Maybe if the board was more involved and focused on the right priorities, there would be less of a chance our system would be in the situation it is now. I believe Dar can help narrow that focus.

So, for those that were curious, there are my choices. Please participate in our democracy and go out and vote.
